Do You Need a Referral to See Our Office? Not Usually!
When foot or ankle pain slows you down, the last thing you want to do is wait for a referral. The good news is — in most cases, you don’t need one to see Dr. Amanda Matz, DPM in our Auburn office.
When You Don’t Need a Referral
If you have a PPO, EPO, or Medicare insurance plan, you can call our office directly at 530-885-7047 and schedule an appointment without a referral. Most patients fall into this category. We’re happy to verify your benefits and help make sure your visit is covered.
Common reasons patients come straight to us include:
Heel pain or plantar fasciitis
Bunions and hammertoes
Ingrown toenails
Sports and overuse injuries
Skin and Nail issues
Custom orthotics and foot pain evaluations
When a Referral Is Required
If your insurance is an HMO, your plan will usually require a referral from your primary care provider (PCP) before you can see any specialist, including a podiatrist. This step allows your PCP to coordinate your care and confirm coverage.
If you’re unsure what type of plan you have, our team can help you check. We work closely with local primary care offices and can guide you through the referral process if it’s needed.
Bottom Line
You don’t have to wait for relief! Most patients can call us directly at 530-885-7047 to schedule an appointment. If your plan does need a referral, we’ll make the process simple and efficient so you can get back on your feet quickly.
